Anno Moyoco (b. 1971), creator of manga (graphic novels) that explore women's issues in a variety of genre (including fantasy, historical fiction, and comedy) discusses recent changes in the manga industry, the power of manga to affect social change in contemporary Japan, and her masterpiece Sakuran (2012), from which original artwork and a digital version of the entire text are displayed in the exhibition Modern Love: 20th-Century Japanese Erotic Art (November 20, 2014–March 15, 2015).
